After all, it just shows how fast your loved one is growing up. A great way you can get your child excited about this is by introducing them to the tooth fairy. This magical being can spark joy and encourage great dental hygiene habits, but what are good ways to do this? Here are four tips to make this character more fun.

1.) Create a Dedicated Tooth Pillow

For some children, the thought of a mystical creature going into their room and under their pillow can be scary. A great way around this is by creating a dedicated box or pouch for their fallen tooth. You can make it an activity with your loved one and decorate it however they like. By adding ribbon, you can even hang it on their doorknob, so it’s easier to get to.

2.) Add Sparkles to the Cash

Before you slide plain ol’ cash underneath your child’s pillow, consider adding some sparkles to it. Spraying on some glitter or using glitter pens can help your loved one feel more mystified when they wake up. While this may seem messy, watching your loved one’s face beam in excitement about this small token can be worth it.

3.) Leave a Tooth Fairy Receipt

When you retrieve your child’s tooth from under their pillow, consider leaving a receipt of the transaction. You can have things like their name, age, address, and number of teeth. That way, it’s more personalized to your loved one, and they feel prouder of their growing grin.

4.) Write a Letter to the Tooth Fairy

After all is said and done, you can encourage your child to leave a note for the tooth fairy. They can let them know how the tooth fell out and what wishes they have. Not only will this give you ideas about what to get your little one, but it will also help build excitement and work out their imagination. That way, there’s more of a connection being built. Writing a letter back and keeping it small with glitter can help it seem more real!

In the end, introducing your child to the tooth fairy doesn’t have to be a long, elaborate scheme. By keeping it simple and fun, you can spark joy and wonder in your loved one. That way, they want to continue taking care of their tiny teeth.

About the Practice

At Homer Sedighi, D.M.D., P.C., you benefit from the skilled leadership of Dr. Sedighi and Dr. Jessica Martin.
